Project history: Steel-hulled destroyers with turtleback-form forecastle and three funnels. Contract speed was 26kts for 3hrs, but ships had difficulty achieving it.

Ship protection: Armour plating extended over the boilers and machinery at the waterline.

Modernizations: None.

Naval service: Santa Fé wrecked 19.4.1897 on Rio de La Plata off Colonia del Sacramento during a storm.
