Project history: Most modern protected cruiser of Argentina Navy before WWI, similar to Chilean Blanco Encalada. She was designed by main designer of Armstrong P. Watts; one of most successful "Elswick" cruisers. Hull was wood-sheathed, flush-decked wuth complete double bottom.
Ship protection: Protective deck ran the length of the ship and had 127 (over machinery)-38mm flat part with 127-76mm slopes.
Modernizations: None.
Naval service: No significant events.
