Project history: Cruiser was designed by P. Watts as development of Veinticinco de Mayo; first of Argentina cruisers, completely armed with quick-firing artillery. Construction of ship was slightly delayed by changing the torpedoes from 356mm to 450mm.
Ship protection: Protective deck ran the length of the ship and had 89-20mm flat part with 114-89mm slopes. Double bottom was on full length of the ship except of boiler and engine rooms.
Modernizations: None.
Naval service: No significant events.
