Project history: Algerian/Bulgarian design C58. Difficulties in fitting out the prototype forced suspension of work on the latter pair. Were originally to have been armed with 76mm OTO-Melara Compact and twin 40mm Bred-Bofors mounts with optronic directors but first two were commissioned with very weak armament. Almost all electronic has Chinese origin.
Modernizations: 2001-2002, Djebel Chenoua, El Chihab: - 1 x 2 - 30/71, 2 x 2 - 25/82; + 2 x 2 C802 SSM (4 C802), 1 x 1 - 76/59 AK-176, 1 x 6 - 30/54 AK-306
Naval service: No significant events.
